Job Summary

The Director of training and program development will work under the supervision of the System Director for Family Planning, this full-time position is privately (grant) funded primarily responsible for planning, developing, and implementing new services and providing standardized staff training. This position will identify training needs and provide on-going staff training/retraining. In addition, this position is part of the health care management team that provides reproductive health services and grant management.

Responsibilities

A. Administrative Duties:

  1. Supervise all administrative & clinical activities
  • Manage patient engagement and care retention
  • Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring and reporting
  • Oversee the supervision of management and nursing personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluation of performance, making recommendations for personnel actions and organization activities.
  • Supervise management and nursing personnel.
  • Responsible for monitoring all staff personnel issues, including performance evaluations, vacation and sick leave, time card review and submission.
  • Organize and participates in administrative meetings and staff development meeting

B. Training and Development Duties:

  1. Develop, implement, and update Division of Family Planning training curriculum from needs assessment.
  2. Facilitate orientation for all medical staff and oversee the scheduling and coordination of on-going trainings in conjunction with training staff members.
  3. In conjunction with the Associate Medical Director, Medical Director and Clinic Management staff establishes a systematic, coordinated effort to train all health center staff on clinical and operational changes as needed.
  4. Devise method to track proficiencies and supervise maintenance of records for all division medical staff.
 

C. Clinical Management Duties:

  1. Supervise administrative & clinical activities, in conjunction with clinical manager
  2. Manage patient engagement and care retention, in conjunction with clinical manager
  3. Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring and reporting in conjunction with nursing and management staff
  4. Oversee the supervision of clinical personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluation of performance, making recommendations for personnel actions and organization activities.
  5. Responsible for monitoring all staff personnel issues, including performance evaluations,  vacation and sick leave, time card review and submission.
  6. Supervise management and nursing personnel.
  7. In accordance with CCHHS job descriptions, perform functions of nursing coordinator, including monitoring of time submission, responsibilities includes, but are not limited to QA reporting, nurse training and management of nurse staffing issues.
  8. Organize and participate in administrative meetings and staff development meetings
  9. Provide nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.
  1. Assist and monitor patients in recovery room. This includes, taking vital signs, dispensing medications, giving verbal and written aftercare instructions and birth control information, and reporting signs or symptoms of post procedure complications to M.D.
  2. Provide assessment and counseling for surgical and medical abortion patients, as necessary
  1. Accept individual and joint responsibility for, and participate in, health center efforts to comply with all organizational quality assurance guidelines and all pertinent government regulations including OSHA and CLIA.

D. Fiscal Duties:

  1. Manage staff and expenses within consolidated budget.
  2. Monitor ordering of supplies, within the parameters above budget.
  3. Maintain budget spreadsheets to ensure departmental compliance with above budget.

E. Research and grant administration:

  • Collaborates with other staff members to generate and submit all annual progress reports to the Kenneth J. Ryan Residency Training Program
  • Participate in administration of all aspects of the program
  • Coordinate communication between staff, PI, and the Kenneth J. Ryan Residency Training Program
  • Supervise NAF data entry and maintenance
  • Participate in, in conjunction with research manager, IRB approvals and other aspects of research activities as related to clinical responsibilities.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education programs to update project staff on current protocol policies and procedures.
  • Research and apply for external grant funds, as needed.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with active licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Prior administration management experience essential
  • Flexibility and comfort in working in fast paced environments
  • Problem solving skills and flexibility an important asset

 

Experience: Greater than 7+ years of supervisory experience in clinical or administrative health care. Teaching and training experience in reproductive health experience required, as well as proven prior submission of at least one grant of 100k or more. Participation in leading work redesign teams also strongly desired.


Professional and Personal Qualities: Commitment to the efficient and customer-oriented provision of services. Willingness to participate in a team approach to health care delivery. Ability to work with and assess comprehension from many types of learners. Patience, initiative and ability to work under minimal supervision are required. Ability and willingness to travel among sites, as necessary. Commitment to providing all women with the full range of reproductive choices.
