Job Summary

The Healthcare-associated Infection Prevention Coordinator (HAI Coordinator) manages the Department’s healthcare-associated infection (HAI) program, including the administration of ARRA grant funds, oversight of HAI-related information on the Illinois Hospital Report Card and the Division of Patient Safety and Quality website, and maintenance of relationships with stakeholders through the program’s Advisory Council and through other means.  The HAI Coordinator is responsible for managing all HAI-related projects and efforts conducted by the Department.

Responsibilities

The HAI Coordinator will complete all task related to ARRA grant funds, including the management of budget and invoices, monitoring of sub-grantee activities, and quarterly reporting to the federal and state governments.  The HAI Coordinator will be primary point of contact for hospital-based National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) facility administrators and will provide support and assistance, in addition to communications regarding policies and requirements.  The HAI Coordinator will compile annual statewide reports on HAIs including MRSA and C. difficile. The HAI Coordinator will conduct analysis of HAI data from various sources, including the C. difficile prevention collaborative, a statewide educational conference, and work groups as outlined in the HAI state plan. The HAI Coordinator will manager the program’s Advisory Council, communication with members on a regular basis and planning and running all meetings.

Qualifications

Candidates for this position must have an MPH or MS in Epidemiology, with at least four years of work experience. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) strongly preferred.  Candidates should have extensive knowledge of epidemiology and healthcare-associated infection, and should possess excellent communications skills, including writing and public speaking.
