The Hektoen Institute for Medical Research currently helps to develop and administer approximately 200 active grants at any given time funded by a variety of sources, including city (Chicago), state (Illinois), and federal government agencies, as well as private foundations. Hektoen specializes in developing projects that focus on all aspects of healthcare for the disadvantaged populations of Chicago and the metropolitan area. We focus on clinical research, health systems development and service delivery demonstrations in a wide variety of disease states and entities. The projects Hektoen manages are broad in scope and spectrum:
Hektoen’s newest projects involve helping to develop proposals and support for a Center for the Study of Environmental Reproductive Health in Minority Communities; developing a touch-screen prescription system for health care providers; extending integrated substance abuse treatment into general medical settings for early intervention and referral; and expanding bioterrorism preparedness via interactive internet linkage of health care settings statewide. For a more detailed list of our grants, please see the menu on this page, or click on any of the topics listed above.
