The Hektoen Institute presents educational programs serving the general public as well as medical and health care professionals including physicians and nurses. Our educational activities take the form of lectures, symposia, workshops, trips, publications, exchange of scientific information, sponsorship of exchange programs, and mentorship programs. Some of our programs take place at the Hektoen Institute; some are hosted by other organizations in Chicago or internationally.
Currently, we run educational programs in the following disciplines: medical ethics, medical history & medical humanities, art & nursing, pediatric cardiology, pain, HIV/AIDS, and medical education. We are always open to expand our topics and our affiliations with other organizations.
Call us if you want to initiate a collaboration. We had successful partnerships with the University of Illinois, College of Medicine and College of Nursing, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Loyola University, the Illinois Humanities Council, and the International Museum of Surgical Science.
