Position Summary

Hektoen Institute is hiring a Psychiatric Social Worker for the School Based Health Center.  Under the direction and guidance of the SBHC Site Coordinator and Behavioral Health Director, the Psych SW will provide mental health assessments and psychotherapy to adolescents, children and families in an outpatient, school-based setting for students of District 201, siblings, and community. Services provided are both on site and telehealth.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive mental health assessments.
  • Provide psychotherapeutic treatments including individual, support groups and family therapy.
  • Provide crisis intervention and management services.
  • Assist with psychotropic medication management prescribed by PCP and Psychiatrist.
  • Conduct consultations to parents, teachers, other school personnel, medical providers, and community agencies to support the social-emotional functioning and learning of adolescents.
  • Complete clinical information in a timely manner to obtain authorizations, complete billing, notes, outcome measures, and treatment plans.
  • Treatment services provided will be based on credentialing privileges, related to their areas of expertise, and follow accepted guidelines and best practices.
  • Maintain a regular schedule at assigned school-based health center.
  • Act as a liaison between DCFS and physicians for all mandated child abuse cases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by SBHC Site Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work.
  • License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience and prior experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse children, adolescents, and families.
  • Clinical experience with medical professionals and integrated care strongly preferred
  • Spanish Speaking required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience or interest in community health and working with community partners, parents, and youth.
  • Flexible work hours required.
