Hektoen Institute believes that technology can greatly improve the ability for us to service our clients. Providing these services to our clients, we improve our clients’ ability to meet their program and service delivery goals.

We offer a complete catalog of IT related services available to our clients. Our service offerings fill in the “gaps” that our clients may experience when executing their programs.

We operate quickly and efficiently allowing our client to focus on what’s important – their programs.

Hektoen Data Center

Hektoen houses all of its data and server hardware off-site in a Tier 3 datacenter. The data center provides us with:

  • A highly reliable facility – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Connected to Internet via dual DS-3 fiber
  • Fully redundant (N+1 design) with no single point of failure for power, cooling, and Internet connectivity
  • Security – multiple levels of data and physical security
  • Staffed with seasoned, experienced operations, network engineering and help desk personnel

One user name and password

All of Hektoen’s online systems utilize one set of credentials – user name and password. We avoid the frustration of having to remember multiple user names and passwords when accessing different systems.

Web based Fund Reports

Hektoen’s web based fund reporting system is called Hector GrantMonitor. The Hector system provides our clients access to critical accounting reports for their funds via a website. The website is encrypted using the same SSL technology that banks and other financial institutions use.

Email

Hekoen offers his clients access to a hektoen.org email account. Hektoen uses Microsoft Exchange server for email. By using a central Microsoft Exchange server, we avoid the common problem of missing email – where downloading email to multiple computers can sometimes lead to a lost or misplaced message. All hektoen.org messages are contained on our Exchange server. We subscribe to a 3rd party spam filter, as well as 2 layers of anti-virus protection. Our Exchange environment is backed up nightly. Mailboxes can be accessed via the web, Outlook 2003 & 2007, as well as smart phones and the recently released Apple iPhone 3G – all that is needed is an Internet connection.

Application and Database Hosting

One of the greatest fears for our clients is the risk their data is exposed to on a daily basis – from hardware failure, user error, data corruption, to even theft. Beginning in the Fall of 2008, we will allow our clients to access their applications and data from our data center. Applications and data will be accessed via a secure website. We will enforce strict security policies to meet all privacy laws.

Website Assistance

There are times when our clients would like their programs to have their own voice on the web, their own website. Is your program thinking about a website? We have built relationships with a number of organizations that can assist you with:

  • Website Hosting
  • Website Design
  • Website Development

Web based Backup

Many of our clients are working on laptops or from home computers. What would happen if your hard drive failed right now? Also starting in the Fall of 2008, we will offer our clients a remote backup solution that will backup their entire machine via the Internet. The backup will be fully encrypted and secured. Entire drives can be restored, as well as individual files.
